your brain on paper.

Thought this artwork depicting some brain-related phrases was really cute:

bird brain.

pea brain.

These whimsical drawings are products of Melissa and Melinda at PeachPops. These particular drawings feature a character named Wooshie. Wooshie looks like one cool cat. Has an adorable dog, too.

PeachPops art is digitally drawn and reproduced on matte paper. Not only do they have the Wooshie prints and some fun cat ones, they also have illustrations of dogs, rabbits, birds and other animals.

You can also visit the PeachPops website to find other great art and some computer icons and wallpaper. (The Kandy Kit Katz icons are hysterical.)

illustrated brilliance.

One of the great things about being at Bazaar Bizarre last week was all the eye candy. I like eye candy. I especially like illustrated eye candy, like that being sold by Los Angeles artist Jaime Zollars.

I wound up buying “Homeless” — which features a lonely owl. Simple and sad. Apparently, it was also a Threadless t-shirt (which, sadly, is no longer available).

My favorite print, though, was “Underwater Circus”:

I would have bought this piece too if I’d had more cash on me … I’m sure I will break down and buy it at some point. It’s a wonderful, whimsical style. And the fish are so varied and look awesome.

Many of Jaime’s prints are vivid, creative and plain awesome. Definitely worthy of some wall space if you’ve got some.

my kind of superhero.

When you’re out fighting crime, saving the world and generally being a kickass superhero, you’d be a little tired at the end of the day, right? Maybe something like this:

This sweet-looking print is from AshleyG on Etsy. Ashley is based in St. Louis and creates drawings and paintings of simple-looking but interesting characters. Lots of little girls and animals. Sometimes they are caped heroes too.

You can also read more about Ashley and her art on her blog.

baa, baa, black sheep …

… have you any wool?

Or maybe you just think black sheep like these are cool:

This is a print of original artwork by Ann Whim Tseng of atwhim. This Portland-based artist’s work features a little bit of nature, some cool-looking animals and some heavy Asian inspiration. Both original artwork (mostly paintings) and prints of her work are available at her Etsy shop.

Again, if you need some art to grace your walls, there’s some good stuff there.

cute dogs …

I happened to stumble upon these illustrations at Etsy:

This is the work of Kim Niles at KiniArt Studios. She is a children’s book illustrator, and gosh darn it, those dogs are adorable.

My favorite is the shaggy sheepdog (maybe because you can’t see his eyes?), but there are other breeds on her site, as well as some dogs in cute costumes.

If you love dogs and art (or even if you just love art), a few of these pieces would look liven up your walls!

one rad pickle.

Admittedly, I don’t like pickles. Too sour for me. But this is a pickle I can dig:

Or how about a pickle on a bike?

These wonderful characters are the work of Jack and Rita over at Mr. Pickles. The intro illustration/animation to their site alone is well worth the click — I’ve never seen a better-looking lime in my life.

Mr. Pickles has shirts, cards and even mugs featuring the cast of characters. There is even a plushy section where you can buy a stuffed t-bone steak for the favorite carnivore in your life. (Ham and lamb shank also available.)

Besides the shop, there are games and the blog to keep you entertained at the Mr. Pickles site, so go over there and ogle the food already.

lovely, lovely gocco.

I have been fascinated with the gocco printer for a long time. I broke down and bought one on eBay a little while ago, and while I haven’t had time to break it out, surely, some of these images from apak would be inspiring:

The drinking pandas are especially cool in their Technicolor glory.

The work is a collaboration between the husband-and-wife team of Ayumi and Aaron Piland.

More of these whimsical cards and illustrations can be found at the apak etsy store. You can also find more at their website.

small things, great packages.

I’m going with a kitty theme here, I suppose. But these cards from DeMarco Designs are too cute to pass up:

The kitty’s name is Button. The cards come in a lovely little tin with a tiny pencil. Great for gift tags and such.

These are just some of the cute/wonderful/happy/lovely illustrations by Mariah DeMarco. Do check out her shop … not only is she a fantastic illustrator, but she’s a fantastic person too.

animals + art = lovely.

As someone who has never been the greatest at drawing things, I am always appreciative when I see great illustration. Because, after all, art is beautiful. I wish I was better at it.

Susie Ghahremani of Boygirlparty is one of my favorites. There is something about all her animal drawings that makes me happy. Like this cat:

See more at Boygirlparty. You won’t be disappointed. Promise.
